This "Recent Objects" feature automatically hides the "Recent" list of objects that is defaulted whenever you visit a standard tab (e.g. Accounts, Opportunities, etc.), and provides a show/hide link for displaying the list.  This feature is designed to reduce data overload and accelerate use of the system, particularly for new users.
