This extension uses information from the Cookiepedia public database to provide information on how websites share your data.Privacy Detective, developed by the team behind Cookiepedia, is the first plug-in to use the webs largest cookie knowledge base to give users information about what the cookies set by the websites they visit actually do.  By explaining the different purposes of the cookies found, it gives you valuable information to help you make decisions on how to better protect your privacy.

By using the Privacy Detective you are also helping to contribute to the Cookiepedia knowledge base.  As you browse, it submits anonymous information about the cookies sites are setting in your browser, so we can provide more up to date and detailed information.

We are tracking the trackers, not users. Privacy Detective only records the names and other key attributes of the cookies, set by the websites.  It does not record the values in those cookies, nor does it attempt to store any information that may be used to identify you.
